The academy is open to all experience levels, for new starters we recommend attending any of the beginner/fundamental classes.
Do I need to be fit to start?
Whilst a general level of fitness will be of benefit; there isn’t a requirement to ‘get fit’ before joining; sparring duration & intensity can be gradually built upon each lesson to help you reach your fitness goals.
How are the classes structured?
Specific technical drills & exercises followed by situation and live sparring. Sparring is essentially trying to execute the techniques of the discipline against a resisting opponent in a controlled environment.
The sparring elements are optional but are frequently cited by practitioners as being the most enjoyable aspect of training!
What clothing should I wear to my first session?
Shorts & a t-shirt will be fine for the first number of classes; for the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu & Judo sessions a uniform known as a Gi is worn along with a belt; denoting experience & grade within the respective discipline; these can be loaned until you are ready to purchase your own Gi.
